How to Turn off location on iphone

Both Android and iPhone phones store your location using data from data services, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. As we spend so much time on our phones, our location is stored on the device. This information is helpful since it can track your device if it is stolen. However, because the data is collected by third-party app stores, it is sometimes used, creating privacy concerns. As a result, the majority of people are satisfied with the positive aspects of it. So there’s good news in that case! However, to detect malicious apps from accessing your location, you can tighten the privacy options.

Some apps, such as Daraz, Amazon, and others, require location data, while others, such as maps, Careem, Uber, and others, do not. However, such apps may sometimes request information for which sharing data is not required. In this case, the app’s location service can be stopped.

  • Go to your device’s settings.
  • Select “Privacy” > “Location Services” from the drop-down menu.
  • If you don’t wish to turn off all location services, “Location Services” is always turned on.
  • Now scroll down to see which apps have location data turned on. You will see a list of permission options, such as “Never,” “When Shared,” and “While Using.” When you select “When Shared,” the app will notify you before sharing your location the following time. “While Using” refers to when you are actually using that app; but, it does not mean that the apps should not share your data with other apps.
  • Click on the app list to change a single app’s access to your location data.

You will be taken to a new window where you may switch or remove location access for various items, including WiFi, time zone, emergency calls, and Apple News and App Store ads.

This isn’t the end of the story. Small arrows can be found on the left side of several toggles. For example, the hollow indicator that the apps may be using your location data, while the purple arrow shows that the app has just used your location, and the grey arrow indicates that it has used your site in the last 24 hours.

To see if a specific app is collecting location data from your devices, go to the “system service” page at the bottom and turn on the “Status Bar Icon” toggle. Then, wherever the phone is receiving the location, an arrow will show at the top of the screen.

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Select “Privacy” > “Location Services” from the drop-down menu.
  • Turn off the “Location Services” switch.

You will receive a notification at this point informing you that because you have stopped the switch service for all apps, it will re-enable itself when you use “Find My iPhone” to report your phone missing. It’s now up to you to choose how to turn it on or off.
