Ford Mustang California Special Is Back For 2024 With Retro Cues

It seems that a new Ford Mustang usually invites a plethora of unique versions, and the S650 is expected to be no exception. The seventh generation of pony cars, which debuted little over a year ago, has already been given track-focused Dark Horse and supercar-beating GTD versions. In the future, you will be able to purchase an additional version of the cherished ‘Stang that pays tribute to the 1968 GT/CS.

Indeed, the GT California Special—whose name implies it’s based on the GT—is making a comeback for the 2024 model year. The new/old version, which pays homage to the classics, sports retro styling and is offered in coupe and convertible body types with a six-speed manual or an optional ten-speed automatic transmission original 56-year-old GT/CS. It stands out courtesy of Rave Blue accents on the front air intakes flanking a redesigned grille with horizontal slats replacing the honeycomb pattern.

Additionally, Ford added more of those Rave Blue highlights to the GT, 5.0, and GT/CS badges as well as darkened the headlight bezels. In addition, the bottom of the profile features a two-tone decal, and the 19-inch wheels come in two different styles. You may choose the Performance Pack wheels with a machined face and more of those Rave Blue elements, or you can choose the normal ones in Carbonized Grey with a Rave Blue GT/CS insignia.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice that the door cards and dashboard have stitching in Metal Grey and Raptor Blue, and the seats are covered in perforated Navy Pier and Ebony Black leather. Ford used the same embroidery on the steering wheel and centre console. Completing the adjustments are the unique floor mats and a “California Special” badge on the passenger side of the dash.
