After adopting Apex Legends’ gameplay concept, PUBG adds a new respawn system to update version 23.2. PUBG’s existing comeback systems on Taego and Vikendi inspire Recall, which brings a Respawn Legend-style feature to Erangel Miramar and Deston.
The Recall System: How It Works
Recall functions as a PUBG adaptation of Respawn Beacons, and unique features have been added. Here’s how it works:
1. Collecting the Blue Chip
After your squadmate perishes, you must find and pick up their Blue Chip, which is nearby on the body. This blue chip can help players resurrect from death.
2. Using Blue Chip Towers
As with the Respawn Beacons in Apex Legends, players can use the Blue Chip Towers to bring back team members to PUBG. Blue Chip players find these towers anywhere on the map and use them to get back their team members through interaction.
- In PUBG, you need 10 seconds to revive a teammate, versus Apex, which requires only 5 seconds.
- Your teammates who joined later enter the next phase only when the blue circle shuts.
- When you use a Blue Chip Tower once, it must go offline temporarily before returning to service.
3. Blue Chip Transmitters
Players can use Blue Chip Transmitters to call their team back and place them anywhere on the map without spending a permanent item. However, transmitters have limitations:
- These tools won’t function in cars, underwater positions, or when you’re kneeling or lying face down.
- Like towers, transmitters produce a loud sound that warns other players when enemies are around.
Key Differences From Apex Legends
While PUBG’s Recall system mirrors Apex’s mechanics, several key differences set it apart:
- Recalled Players Start Fresh: While Apex Legends returns deployed teammates with their gear intact, PUBG sends resurrected soldiers weaponless into the game.
- Survival Dependency: When the calling player dies at the game’s end, the teammate they revived becomes inactive in the new round.
- Time Limit: Recalls happen during a defined time window in Phase 6, creating immediate action pressure.
Where Recall Is Available
The Recall system works only on Erangel, Miramar, and Deston maps. In Taego and Vikendi, returning players fight in a Comeback BR Gulag, while Erangel Miramar and Deston use the new recall feature for onboard spares.
Update 23.2 Includes New Features
On top of the new respawn system, the 23.2 update delivers fresher features. Here’s what else is coming:
- Vehicle Icons: New icons on your map show the real-time position of your vehicles so you never lose them.
- Clan System: PUBG will launch a clan system to help players join teams and connect.
Release Dates
These changes will start PC playability on May 16 and move to consoles on May 24 to create new team matchups.
With the introduction of Recall, both Apex Legends and PUBG players will discover fresh ways to succeed. Get prepared to modify and grow in the game.
