The same goes for Android phones—you don’t want a cracked screen. Although mobile phones’ screens are hard to crack, just one bad fall will ensure they are broken right through. Since most things should be backed up at some point, knowing how to recover data from a phone in an incident like this is important. Most people have priceless data on their phones.
If you ever find yourself with a cracked phone screen, you have the following options for recovering your data. Some of the steps below require more equipment. Whether your screen is still responsive, touch-responsive, or unresponsive ultimately determines the method you will use to recover Android data.
How to Access Android Phone with Broken but Visible Screen
An Android with a damaged but displayed screen with touch response capability is ideal for retaining crucial data. You can only copy all your files onto your computer before the crack enlarges, and you must change the screen. There is no need to use other accessories besides the standard USB port cable you charge your phone with.
1. If your phone is off, power it on and unlock it with your PIN, fingerprint, or whatever security code you activated it with.
2. This can be achieved by connecting the cell phone with the computer through a USB cable.
3. As long as the touch screen is operational, tap ‘file transfer mode.’ The name of this option may vary depending on the mobile phone’s model.
4. Log into your phone through your computer and get all your papers back.
How to Access Android Phone with No Touch Function
Here you are holding a dropped phone, and you can clearly see everything on your screen, yet the touch screen does not respond. If this sounds familiar, there is a way you can access your phone, but you need extra equipment: a USB Mouse, Keyboard (optional), and a USB hub with an HDMI interface. Here are the steps you should follow:
1. First, it is important to establish if the phone is unlocked since the touch sensor (digitizer) remains working. If you are lucky, the fingerprint/face unlock option is available. If not, you must unlock it with a password or pattern, so read the following instructions.
2. Plug your USB cable into your phone and plug the other end into the USB hub.
3. Plug your USB mouse into the hub if you have any.
4. Since it is possible to see the screen use the mouse and type in the last few numbers of the password pattern or PIN to control the phone. You may also integrate a keyboard into the USB hub you have already identified.
5. After that, to connect, insert the USB hub to the PC once you have unlocked your phone.
6. Connect a PC mouse to the phone and choose file transfer mode through it. While some Android phones immediately display the USB options, many don’t.
7. Your phone will now connect to your PC nonvisually. You can use the PC’s file explorer to look for all essential files in the phone and transfer them to the computer.
How to Access Android Phone with No Screen
There can be a lot of reasons for no display on your Android phone, one of which is physical damage, so how do you know your phone is alive? That means you should be able to hear the notification sounds and even feel the vibration. You also hear a sound if you attempt to unlock your phone through muscle memory. But thank God, there is a way by which data from a phone with a non-working display can be recovered. In this case, you will need another Android phone, as will be explained below:
1. Your phone needs to be connected to a charger immediately. You must also remember to turn it on and charge it.
2. Take or steal another Android phone (ideally the same or similar model, preferably the same version of the Android OS) and connect it (your good Android phone) to the computer using a USB cable.
3. You can see the pop-up screen on which you have to choose either File Transfer Mode or whatever your phone has there.
4. Do you know where you pressed the screen on this phone?
5. Next, you should connect your damaged phone to the computer with the cable. You will not get any pop-ups, but you have worked with the other Android phone, so you know which part of the screen to hit.
6. You should hear a notification if you’ve managed to connect it.
7. Currently, you can take your phone to your computer and store all the relevant files.
Note: If your phone is locked and you are using face recognition/fingerprint, then unlocking this phone will be very easy because your phone still works with a black screen. If you have a pattern to unlock your phone, then try it with the other Android phone before memorizing the pattern used. The same is true if there is a password where you need to enter it.
