YouTube Premium subscribers can now access various fresh, experimental features—all of which are free. These features enhance the audio quality and video playback, making viewing more flexible.
Access Improved Audio, Faster Playback Speeds, and More
Unlike when YouTube experimented with just one function, this recent one allows users to combine a few experimental features. Right now, YouTube Premium subscribers can use the following five new ones:
- High-Quality Audio: Music videos now come with the choice of 256kbps audio along with a more vibrant audio experience.
- Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts on iPhone: One can use the Shorts app while doing other tasks like watching a video or checking messages.
- Offline Recommended Shorts (iPhone Only): By selecting shorts, YouTube can download them for offline viewing.
- Faster Playback Speeds: The 4x playback speed option is soon coming to mobile devices, which were previously set to a maximum of 2x.
- Skipping to the Best Part on Desktop: This feature allows users to jump to the most engaging part of a video on their desktops, just like they can do on their mobiles.
How Much Does YouTube Premium Cost?
The YouTube Premium subscription plan is valued at $13.99 per month and is available for users who want to choose it for an annual or even family/student group plan. A new Google deal offers users a discount on purchasing YouTube Premium alongside a Google One Premium plan or higher.
More Value Without Extra Costs
Many subscription services are hiking prices, but YouTube Premium does the opposite. While the ad-free experience might be enormously beneficial to frequent YouTube users, it would be way more helpful to evaluate whether you need these perks to watch.
