Under the Google Play Beta Programme, WhatsApp is releasing an upgrade that brings the version number up to 2.24.9.29.
What has changed with this update? The reaction notification function for status updates is currently in development and will be included in the next edition of WhatsApp!
In the post about the upgrade to WhatsApp for Android 2.24.9.23, we mentioned a new feature that allows users to quickly reply to status updates as they happen. By introducing this change, WhatsApp hopes to improve how users interact with status updates in the future by letting them quickly respond to content with the hearth emoji.
As seen in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.29 update from the Google Play Store, WhatsApp seems to be dedicated to improving the new reaction feature for status updates. One improvement they’ve made so far is the ability to manage notifications for these reactions.
A new feature that will enable users to stop alerts for like reactions is currently being considered by WhatsApp, as shown in the related screenshot. This feature is expected to be released in a future app update. Because the notification management slide is already labeled “Like reactions,” it seems like WhatsApp intends to use this term to describe this feature.
By providing this option, users can personalize their notification experience and decrease the number of alerts caused by status reactions. If users would rather not be notified every time someone reacts to their status update, they can stop alerts and review reactions manually within the status panel.
We think there would be some benefit to allowing users to disable notifications for like reactions; this would help users, especially those who get a lot of status reactions, avoid distractions. Users will also have a greater say over these updated status reactions, giving them greater agency in crafting personalised messages.
Users are more likely to respond to status updates with reactions since this new method makes engaging with status material easier and faster since they can respond instantly without starting a lengthy conversation thread. We think that consumers would have a much easier time managing their notification settings based on their needs and preferences if they can stop notifications for the quick reaction feature.
The app’s developers are working on a reaction notification feature that will be accessible in an upcoming version for status updates. As soon as we have more details regarding this feature, we will post another article.
