Discord doesn’t do a great job of supporting a bright and colorful text chat experience. While text chat is available, it doesn’t appear to have any built-in color commands or allow you to really do anything “fancy” with your text. Simple writing might swiftly become very unpleasant, but you can alter the color of your font.
You and your friends may make your Discord text discussions more engaging and appealing to the eye by adding vibrant colors, as shown in this post!
How Discord Text Colorization Works
Because Javascript is used to create the interfaces, together with a theme called “Solarized Dark” and a package called “highlights.js,” colorizing text in Discord is made possible. Upon logging into your Discord server, a number of highly advanced Javascript tools, such as “highlight.js,” render the page that appears.
Text coloring is not supported by the Discord native user interface, but it is supported by the Javascript engine that runs the “highlight.js” script. You can alter the colors and highlights of the text displayed in each person’s text chat window by adding code snippets into your text dialogue.
Type Your Colored Text in Discord
There are two standard methods for text entry. The first method is to have a text file with the different codes for the different font colors accessible in this way on your computer, and then cut and paste the desired bits.
A different approach is to type the code block line by line into the Discord conversation engine. To add another line without communicating the message to Discord, type one line and then press “Shift + Enter.” Press “Shift + Enter” once again after typing the second line. The third sentence can then be typed and sent to Discord by pressing “Enter.”
Using the “Back Quote” Symbol to Colorize Discord
- You have to use the “backtick” symbol, which is a grave accent, in the upper left corner of your keyboard in order to color code any text in Discord. It is connected to the “Tilde” sign.
- The three “backtick (grave accent) symbols ({{{)” should be in the first line of the code block, followed by the “code phrase” that instructs the Solarized Dark theme as to what color to display.
- Please take note that the code word for “CSS” in the following image will vary based on the outcomes you want. Refer to the next section’s code phrase color/highlight options.
- Your text should be typed out as usual in the second line. Holding down “Shift + Enter” will start a new line. The message is sent even just by clicking the “Enter” button.
- There should be three extra “backticks/grave accent symbols” in the third line of the code block. Regardless of the results you’re hoping for, this line rarely changes and should look like this:
- Your text should look like this because you used the code word “甔 CSS”:
