Soon, you will be able to hum to search with the YouTube Music app for Android. This is akin to Shazam in that it will function similarly to asking a friend, “Hey, what’s that song that goes…” just before you hum out a bar. To locate it, you can also whistle, sing, or play a recording of a song.
If you have already been able to use the function, you should see it in the app’s search area. It will look as a new button with a waveform icon next to the microphone icon that shows up when you hit the search button. When you tap this waveform button, the program will begin listening to your rendition of a song.
The Verge conducted some testing, and the new search function functioned as planned. Shazam is a great replacement for it because of its amazing speed and accuracy when finding tunes. Additionally, it is quicker than the hum-to-search feature of Google Assistant.
Not only is the YouTube Music function useful for humming, but it also works well for singing and whistling. It occasionally makes incorrect suggestions, though, usually for songs that are difficult to identify from a brief humming session.
Humming to search has reportedly been observed on YouTube Music for iOS in recent months, according to sources. Widespread accessibility appears to be on the horizon, though.
