The Netflix Windows app’s download feature is being disabled, preventing users from viewing material offline. The massive streaming service just released an update for Windows, and some unlucky users have begun to notice the difference. A few of these users have even taken to social media to report the issue.
An X user going by the handle @ArtemR posted the following screenshot on social media to express his frustration.
This upgrade is described as a “new Windows app experience” by Netflix. With this upgrade, you can now watch live events and get acquainted with Netflix’s ad-supported plan, which has been increasingly well-liked since its launch. As of right now, it accounts for a sizeable share of all Netflix subscriptions.
Netflix claims that users may still watch TV series and movies offline “on a supported mobile device,” but regrettably the new version also blocks downloads for offline viewing, as indicated in the screenshot. It seems that mobile devices that are supported by laptops are no longer supported.
The fact that the upgrade is “coming soon” indicates that Windows Netflix subscribers still have some time before losing their ability to stream material offline.
