Though the video has a lot going on, the futuristic game controller that looks a bright ring light with two handles and analog thumbsticks on either side stands out the most. It still has the directional pad and face buttons, but it doesn’t have a touchpad, a regular D-pad, or the iconic PlayStation buttons (square, circle, triangle, and cross).
Also, a bending screen that appears to be a holographic projection and plays game footage is seen hovering above the idea controller in the video. Though the majority of the video appears to be generated by computers, Sony thinks it provides an idea of what games may look like in the future.
The last words of the film, “create infinite realities,” state that Sony views a day in the future when the actual and virtual worlds would be closer together than ever.
This week’s annual corporate strategy meeting of Sony featured the video, which is a component of the company’s “Creative Entertainment Vision”. It shows Sony’s goals for the next ten years and its vision for the future. The business may already be developing some of the futuristic technologies pictured, but it’s unclear from what Sony alerts viewers to the fact that these are “not directly related to any current Sony products or services.”
According to reports, Sony is working on a mid-generation update for the PS5, which might be released by the end of the year, for those who are still live in 2024. Expected to be called the “PS5 Pro,” the claimed new gaming console might include a stronger GPU, a quicker CPU, more RAM, and better GPU rendering that’s “45 % faster” than the PS5 regular.
According to reports, Sony is also pressing game developers to include more imaging abilities and an exclusive graphics mode to their coming and existing games so they can sell them under the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” banner. There are reports that the new graphics option would mix 60 frames per second gameplay with Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) 4K upscaling.
